About the event

This is a 20-minute talk by one of our Founding Fellows Dr Ramsey Faragher that covers the basics of entrepreneurship, giving a broad overview of the key aspects of starting up a business and running it through to a successful outcome. The talk covers some of the start-up jargon that anyone new to the topic will have to encounter and explains the key foundations of a company such as the executive team, a Board of Directors, venture capitalism, and other core aspects. Other talks in the series over the course of the academic year will dive into each topic in much more detail. The talk will be followed by a panel session and audience discussion on the top tips for first-time founder in preparing to start up their own enterprise. The panellists are recent Queens' College graduate Sid Jayakumar who is currently in the process of establishing his first startup, and Owen Thomson, the CEO and Co-Founder of Cambridge Future Tech, a uniquely technology-first venture builder, working closely with top-tier universities for positive global impact
